Quick answers for getting started with Tintcape.

Is Tintcape available yet?

Tintcape is being prepared for the App Store. The app is designed for Safari on iPhone, iPad and Mac. This website will link to the store when it is available.

How do I enable it on iPhone or iPad?

After installing Tintcape, open Settings → Apps → Safari → Extensions → Tintcape. Turn it on and allow the websites you want to customize. On older iOS versions, Safari is directly under Settings. Then open Tintcape from Safari’s page or extensions menu.

How do I enable it on Mac?

Open Tintcape and choose Open Safari Extension Settings. Enable it in Safari → Settings → Extensions, then allow your chosen websites. Its controls are in Safari’s toolbar.

A website does not look right. What can I do?

Open Tintcape’s Site controls and turn appearance off for that website, or choose a different style. Some protected pages, PDF content and website elements cannot be restyled. You stay in control, site by site.

Does turning appearance off also stop ad blocking?

No. Appearance and Block are independent. You can use either, both or neither. After changing network blocking, reload the page to load content that was previously blocked.

Do my settings sync between devices?

Settings are stored locally, with no automatic cloud sync. You can export and import your settings to move them between devices. Backups may contain your saved site rules; share them thoughtfully.

Does hiding a cookie banner reject tracking?

No. Hiding a banner does not make a consent choice or automatically reject tracking. Cookie-banner filtering is optional and separate from other blocking choices.
